Fallser

“Have you ever found yourself wandering through the forest in the middle of autumn? Have you ever felt leaves fall like paper on you? You may brush it off as a reminder that the year’s season is changing, but if they fall on you in an unreasonable amount, you may want to have a quick look around.

It’s said that the Fallser always comes out to catch whatever looks the prettiest. What it finds the most beautiful is what has the most color on it. Then the calling occurs, be it anything. Unknown laughter, terrified screams, or, at worst, a shadowy figure hiding behind a decaying tree near you. You’d better get out of there. Whatever it is, it’s got your figure memorized, and it will try to hunt you down no matter what as if it were following God’s order. The only escape is getting out of the forest. That’s if you remember your way back. Otherwise, your luck has just ran out because God won’t help you.”

That’s a tale that my old man always told me, I thought he was always crazy or just a bad storyteller, but now that I think about it more, it freaks me out. Of course, I haven‘t believed it to this day, yet for some reason, he insisted on telling me the main features of this creature in the story. This is what I remember: Although it has sharp claws like every made-up monster, it has very human teeth. He said he felt like it was trying to replicate him because it had a golden tooth in the front, like him, even their expressions were the same. He also mentioned that it was almost the exact same size as him, though he was far away. He could have been wrong. Anyway, it’s not faster than a dog, but it has the sense of smell as one. It’s also a carnivore, it only eats meat, and the type doesn’t matter. When I asked him how he knew that, he said it hunted Lucy, an old family dog he had, she was a german-shepherd. Whatever consumed her left only broken and bloodied bones.

One last thing to mention is that it only comes out in autumn or fall as some may say. That’s why he named it “Fallser”. Derived from fall and chaser. Now that I think about it, he never came back from that trip to the forest.
